Dishonest Insurance company

In 2015, I was involved in a head on truck crash, I had Auto Owner Insurance coverage and had UMI coverage which came into play. We sent in a claim on that policy!

When the claims department for Auto Owners got the notice, they wanted lots of paperwork. After sending stacks of paperwork and Auto Owner Claims department they would always say either they didn't get it, or they lost the paperwork, and we had to resend it several times. When Auto Owner Insurance realized they had a sizable claim on their hands here comes the sleaze ball attorneys that Auto Owners hired, Auto Owner Insurance and their sleazy attorneys reviewed the claim for three years till the statute of limitations for filing a lawsuit was almost up then they denied the claim, and we had to sue Auto Owners Insurance! It took two years and about 8 months to get to court with all the Auto Owner's Insurance games that they play, and all needless motions to create delays and stall tactics by Auto Owner sleazy attorneys, they filed motion after motion in court to delay and drive-up costs to try to get you to give into them and take pennies on the dollar.

Auto Owner made me a believer that their philosophy is they would rather pay their sleaze ball attorneys hundreds of thousands of dollars then come to the table and give you a fair settlement! These sleaze ball attorneys hire so-called experts and anyone who will say anything bad about you to come to court and testify against you!!

These attorneys they hire are such lowlife drama filled sleaze balls in court they should be up for an Academy Award, trust me!! Auto Owner Insurance is a terrible company with very poor morals and zero business ethics, if you're looking for an insurance company who is fair and ethical and will be there when you need them, don't choose Auto Owners Insurance, they are the worst of the worst and as unethical as they come!

Vehicle valued too low after collision

September 2021 - My vehicle was considered totaled after a wreck. The adjuster valued my 2010 Chrysler at $3700. The car had been totaled and fully restored after a prior owner had wrecked it. On the web the industry standard is a reduction of value of 20-40% for 'Gray' titles. Current prices on the web for the car is around $6500. My vehicle has $about $2100 in recent add ons. New tires, battery, tow pkg, roof rack. Excellent condition. I spoke with the adjuster, sent the add on receipts and quotes. He raised his offer $700 to new value of $4350. So he is at 30%.

Agent called, the disagreement is the distance from metro Phoenix or nearby to ajo is roughly 100 miles, auto owners will not pay additional costs for mileage or housing to man the job. I also think the remoteness of where I live is something the insurer should have...

Hail destroyed my roof, estimator came out said you will get a new roof. The claim was opened July 21, 2021, company offered 21000 on a job with three estimates the lowest being 24500.00, it is now December 6 months later, Iam in a remote area of Arizona 100+ miles southwest of Phoenix near the border.

Auto Owners grouped my zip code into zip codes within 30 miles of Phoenix. Auto owners will not compensate the roofing company for added cost, time and travel to do the job. The difference is almost 4000.00.

Indemnity should apply, and they need to make me whole, my out-of-pocket is substantial to complete this job. Beware of Auto-Owners, just another insurer willing to screw the customer and contractor to save that bottom dollar.

Awful claims service

we had water damage in april, damaging our wood floors and cabinet bottoms, auto owners insists the damaged cabinet sides can be stained to match the rest of the cabinets. I took a door to 5 different experts, all agreed matching the factory finish exactly would be impossible, I explained this to Auto Owners, they just flat refuse to paint the cabinets. So we are stuck with damaged cabinets rather than have mismatched parts. Also the finish on the cabinets was hard to match with flooring so we are stuck with 3 months back ordered floors. Do not do business with this company, they are dishonest

Reported a claim to my agent #300-033****-2021. Mr. Murphy Jobin contacted me and said an adjuster would contact me in a couple of days. A week later I contacted Mr. Jobin and told him i had not been contacted. He again told me he would have an adjuster contact me to make an appointment to look at the damage. Still no contact. I was just wondering (without using covid-19 as an excuse) how long you expect me to wait and how long you expect me to remain a customer with this poor service. I have been keeping my schedule open to accommodate an adjuster but cannot continue. I will be fixing the damage my self and we will see how things turn out after I contact The State of Ohio department of insurance and if needed file in small claims court.

Age verification stated in claims report is incorrect

I'm being told wear and tears the cause of trouble at 1071 East Barron road Howell Michigan 48855 I have presented proof that these less than eight or nine years old the drain field I presented proof being ignored the rough I have proof it was on a previous claim it had a new roof put on I've lost my whole family in 2020 and this is how you respect family with over 20 years loyalty to you as a customer? we've had a property insurance claim at your office for over a month and nothing has been done!! Isn't it part of your job to please your customer? This claim is for your Denver office and we've been dealing with Zac. The response from auto owners has been totally unsatisfactory--unacceptable. How to get Auto Owners to pay your claim! Just keep calling and emailing as often as you can! The adjuster, the adjusters supervisor, the regional manager, the VP Mary Pierce, and the CEO Jeff Tagsold. Fill up their email and voice mail everyday. Just keep repeating that you have not received you claim check. No matter what they tell you just call again until the check is in your hand. Their adjusters are trained to ignore customers until the go away. They also keep changing adjusters on you to buy time. Just keep calling daily anyway! They only pay when you are annoying them!

I lived at my address for 10 yrs. Recently paid the place off and switched the Insurance from previous Owners into our Name. Even since there has been many reasons why they cannot insure us. I fully believe this Company is not only a Scam but took advantage of us. I was doing some upgrades to the property when I was diagnosed with stage 4 Cancer. Then I receive a letter saying my insurance will END in February. I called to cancel the policy only to hear every excuse why I couldn't get part of my money back.

They wrote my mother a refund check following the cancellation of a game owners policy and the check bounced. I would stay away from these people and stick with a name brand insurers. We are out $253.54 + $12.00 bank fee for a bad check from Auto Owners Insurance !

We recently had a vehicle stolen. Something like this has never happened to us and it was a very confusing and frustrating time. Your employee, Todd Nichols, was polite, professional, efficient and most of all sympathetic. He answered all our concerns and never made us feel like we were to blame. Problem claiming roadside assistance coverage

While waiting for jump service from a local towing company, I called the Auto-Owners 888 number to claim coverage for the $45 service fee. The rep on the line couldn't even locate my policy!! I wound up using my debit card to pay for the jump. Then the local agency informs me the fastest way to get reimbursement was to get the service receipt to the agency by POSTAL mail, so they could forward it to Auto-Owners! I was happy to have a reasonable premium, which includes up to $50 per roadside assistance. But this incident caused me undue stress, and it shouldn't have taken all this!! I'd assumed all I would have to do is present my towing slip from Auto-Owners to the tow truck driver.

Auto Owners Insurance is Insolvent

This company was supposed to refund my mother the prorated amount for the cancellation of her homeowners policy which they did. However, the CHECK was no good and bounced! My mother was then charged a $12 fee by her bank to rub salt in the wound. My mothers home was in Sturgis, Michigan. I never heard of an insurance companys check bouncing !

I would like to give a negative star review. We have had this insurance for our company for 5 years. This past December we had our yearly Work Comp audit. This year they put ALL our sub-contractors as employees and ALL under one code (roofing) which is the most expensive code they can use under work comp. When we told our agent of the mistake, he was surprised, and said no one has ever tried to dispute work comp audit and ignored our frustration, he did NOTHING to help us get anything corrected. Our owner emailed our agent several times and finally got another review for the audit. The final updated audit was released last week, it had 2 employees completely deleted from the work comp payroll records, and the other employees still classified wrong as well as the payroll for all our employees still incorrect, Sub contractors are still listed as employees even having their own work comp insurance. We have told them to cancel the insurance. Now they want to audit our records again before cancelling as requested. (we just went through the nightmare audit 6 months ago) Its like a bad dream that won't go away. Our agent is a nightmare, and does nothing for us. He has lied to us time and time again. They do not want to correct the payroll numbers or give us any explanation as to where they have come up with the payroll numbers they are using for the additional rates. I would never recommend this company to anyone! I have been told that this is a very common problem with Auto Owners, they seem to have issues with getting information for their customers correct on their records, We are willing to pay what we need to but its important they are honest with what they are charging us, and Auto Owners does not seem to want to be transparent or honest. When we ask questions, they ignore us. Our rates have doubled in 6 months because of their error. It's been a nightmare we didn't have time for.
